«Who is Stereogum for? It’s a question I ask myself a lot these days, clicking through the detritus that washes up on its pages. A setlist from a Coldplay concert here, a round-up of “the week’s best and worst comments” there. A Kanye West Twitter rant about fashions he hates hastily illustrated with examples and transformed into a pageview-boosting photo gallery, just north of another gallery of the “10 most anticipated summer festivals of 2012.”

And yet if you have been reading it for a decade, as I have, you could be forgiven lately for feeling disoriented. The Stereogum of 2012 is so far removed from the original product as to beggar belief. And so it seems worth asking how it got there, and what was lost along the way...»
Interessante analisi di Casey Newton su Crumbler su "che fine ha fatto Stereogum?", ma soprattutto su quello che rimane dello spirito originario di un blog musicale quando diventa un'impresa.
