Passate quasi tutte le feste, le classifiche e i Best Of, comincio a riprendere confidenza con i feed e inaugurol'anno nuovo sul blog con un po' di news che guardano al futuro:
- I nostri Be Forest inseriti nella lista dei dischi in uscita nel 2014 più attesi da Pitchfork! Se già non l'avete in agenda, mettete un cuore rosso sul prossimo 4 febbraio, quando We Were Never Being Boring pubblicherà Earthbeat.

- Uno dei primi dischi del 2014 che non vedeveo l'ora di sentire era Wig Out At Jagbags di Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks. Proprio a Capodanno la Matador l'ha messo in streaming integrale.
- Lo stesso Malkmus intervistato da Rob Sheffield su Rolling Stone sembra piuttosto in forma: «All the times when you make stuff, whether it's music or books or art, you can always say, "I could have done that differently" or "that wasn't really me." But I don't worry about that so much anymore. I have a couple of swing thoughts, like in golf, where you would say, "Keep your shoulder up." I have a couple of those now.»

- L'Australia è la nazione che negli ultimi tempi nu sta regalando le maggiori soddisfazioni musicali. Sul Guardian, Everett True segnala "Ten Australian bands to watch in 2014", e sono molto contento di trovarci anche vecchie conoscenze di "polaroid alla radio" come Go Violets, Bed Wettin' Boys e Blank Realm.

- A proposito di 2014, questo potrebbe essere l'anno in cui anche Soundcloud comincerà a creare problemi di copyright in stile Youtube ai propri utenti: "Are Clueless Labels Ruining Mix Platforms Like SoundCloud?"
- Ma per finire una bella notizia. Sono sicuro che Valido apprezzerebbe: sul Village Voice ha debuttato la rubrica "Ask Andrew W.K.", con le risposte supermotivazionali del cantante americano alle lettere dei lettori.
